Announcing A Mixed Media Art Piece, “Picture A Child’s World”

Picture A Child's World

Each of these children’s faces represent a world that is vastly different not only because of their geographic location but also their access to food, clean water, medical care, clothing, education, and someone to care for them.  Children have a special ability to find ways to laugh and play – regardless of their circumstances. But without proper care, that resilient spirit eventually runs dry. There is a reason these paintings show only their faces without identifying surroundings – the world they live in is up to you.

Look into the eyes of these children and imagine their world. Picture them running and playing with their friends. What do you see? What didn’t you see? Now take a moment to remember your childhood.  What are the similarities and differences? For me the contrast was striking.

I met each of these nine children because one or more of their basic needs was not being met.  As a result of Operation Blessing’s work, on the behalf of people who cared enough to take action, their world changed.  What are we doing to change a child’s world?

I have been really excited about sharing this project since it was completed.  I have taken time to work on ways to utilize it to bring awareness to the needs of children around the world.  The goal is to make the piece active and engaging by posing questions that draw the viewer into these children’s world to complete their environment.  I’m currently looking for venues (in the Virginia Beach area to start) to show the piece for 1-4 weeks along with a small placard containing the text above.  If you own a coffee shop, are in charge of art installations at an airport, have connections at an art gallery and would be interested in showing this 30″x30″ piece, please contact me using the contact page, or on Twitter: @tonycece.  If you need to have more than just this painting, I can also supply large prints of my humanitarian photos that fit the theme.

You can learn more about the process and project from these previous posts:
